OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

Whether we like it or not, adversity is part of life.Overcoming adversity is one of the biggest hurdles we face.

overcoming-adversity

As Havelock Ellis wrote, "Pain and death are part of life. To reject them is to reject life itself."
Problems, large and small, present themselves to us throughout our whole existence.
Regardless of how sharp, clever, or happy-go-lucky we are, we will encounter struggle, challenges, difficulties and at times, heart wrenching moments. Is this meant to be a negative, cynical assessment of what we have to look forward to?
Not at all!
In fact, thank goodness for adversity! Learning to deal with and overcoming adversity is what builds character and resilience. Every challenge and every difficulty we successfully confront in life serves to strengthen our will, confidence and ability to conquer future obstacles. Herodotus, the Greek philosopher, said, "Adversity has the effect of drawing out strength and qualities of a man that would have lain dormant in its absence."
When you respond positively and constructively to your biggest challenges the qualities of strength, courage, character and perseverance emerge from deep inside of you.
Of course, since we are human, it is very easy to get caught up in the self pity, unfairness of life, or 'why me?' traps. When we do, we fail to recognize the opportunities for wisdom and growth that accompany adversity. However, as soon we allow ourselves to think more clearly, we are able to let go of self-defeating and unproductive thoughts and get down to the business of dealing with what's before us.

The Tips For Overcoming Adversity

1. Be aware of, and accept that adversity is inevitable in life. As has already been pointed out, adversity is part of life. To avoid or resist it will only make it persist. Everywhere you look in the world there is unmistakable struggle. There are floods, tsunamis, wars, and calamities of all types. Even within your own circle of family and friends there is death, loss and tragedy. Although pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. So what do you do?

2. Build your internal resources. Before adversity hits, work on cultivating emotional strength, courage and discipline. When you make yourself aware that certain difficulties are inevitable, you can prepare yourself mentally for confronting adversity head-on. It would be no different than a warrior going to battle. He (or she) prepares himself physically and mentally for any possibility. He knows it could be ugly, daunting, and grueling, but he is equipped. More often than not, when you're prepared for the worst, the worst never happens, or it's much less severe than anticipated. Another invaluable inner resource is faith. Faith that everything will work out; faith that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and faith that "this too shall pass." Everything in life has its place and purpose.

3. Build your external resources. Build a support system of family and friends. When the going gets tough, we all need encouragement and support. We need someone to talk to; someone to help ease the burden. You would be surprised to discover how often a friend has had a similar experience and can help guide you through the difficult time. Even just knowing a friend is there when you need them can be most comforting.

4. That which does not kill you doesn't always make stronger. Sorry Nietzsche! While I agree with Nietzsche, in principle that - "that what does not kill you will make you stronger", I do not necessarily agree with him in practice. For instance, if you do not have enough built-up resilience or experience in dealing with difficulty, adversity can crush you. On the other hand, if do you have sufficient resilience, then indeed it will make you stronger. How so, you ask? Resilience like any muscle is built up gradually and exponentially with repeated exposure to obstacles. If you lack practice in confronting obstacles (as when you choose to avoid them), one traumatic event can take you down.
To underscore this point, developmental research has shown that traumatized children are more, rather than less, likely to be traumatized again. Likewise, those who grow up in tough neighborhoods become weaker, not stronger, and are more likely to struggle in life.

5. Take inspiration and learn from others who have dealt successfully with adversity. There are many inspiring stories of people who overcame seemingly insurmountable odds. They triumphed over their adversities to live successful, productive lives instead of surrendering to it.

Here are some examples:
Helen Keller: Lost her sight and hearing due to a mysterious fever when she was only 18 months old. She overcame her deafness and blindness to become a strong, educated woman who spoke about, and promoted, women's rights.

Winston Churchill: Overcame a stuttering problem and poor performance in school to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and one of the most influential political leaders of the twentieth century. He was also known for his powerful and rousing speeches.

Wilma Rudolph: The Olympian born prematurely, the 20th of 22 children. She overcame double pneumonia, scarlet fever and polio to become winner of three Gold medals in track at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games.

Lance Armstrong: Overcame testicular cancer which spread to the brain and lungs (he was told he had only a 40% chance of survival) to come back and win the Tour de France seven more times!

don't quit
*** Lance has since admitted to taking steroids during his cycling career, however, he did still battle cancer and overcame immense odds. It's unfortunate that his career was not as exemplary as his will to overcome adversity.

J.K. Rowling: Born to a poor family; left a bad marriage with a young baby to live on government assistance; wrote her first Harry Potter book and was turned down by most publishers until Bloomsbury Publishing picked it up. Need I say more?
Determination, resilience, and persistence enabled all of these great people to push past their adversities and prevail. If they could do it, surely the rest of us can summon the strength and courage to do overcome our adversities!

Points to Consider

  • The difficult times in life help us appreciate when things are going smoothly.
  • Look for the learning opportunities in every adverse situation.
  • Decide whether you will allow your experience to make, or break you. Depending upon how you choose to perceive it, it could go either way.
  •  Be prepared to accept the worst, should it occur. When you have prepared yourself mentally for the worst, it rarely ever happens, and if it does, it seems less so because you are better equipped to handle it.
  • Cultivate faith, courage and resilience. The more of these qualities with which you are armed, the lesser the impact of the adversity.
  • Remind yourself that adversity is part of life. Accepting adversity, helps you overcome it.
Overcoming adversity is one of our main challenges in life. When we resolve to confront and overcome it, we become expert at dealing with it and consequently triumph over our day-to-day struggles.

EXERCISING THE MIND

No matter how gifted you are, how studious you are is what determines how colourful your [life] will be.
Brain lifting barbell. Mind power concept.

“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
An interesting story about the man Isaac Newton, a renowned physicist, popularly known for propounding the law of gravity, is told. It was said that he was once under an apple tree when an apple fell on his head and so he began to ponder on why the apple fell all the way to the ground and didn’t stop mid-air. He thought of the pulling force behind it and that brought about the law of gravity which is known to all today.
An exercise of the mind is your gateway to outstanding discoveries. Great inventions are made by those who meditate on the “seemingly” normal circumstances.
In you are great potentials, but your mind plays a vital part in bringing them out. One way you can exercise your mind is by studying. No matter how gifted you are, how studious you are is what determines how colourful your [life] will be.

reading
Your mental capacity is so broad that it can accommodate and process almost any information; but until you exercise it to do that, it would remain ordinary to you. Don’t just seat on empty dreams, think discoveries and innovations, think big and wide, but back it up with as much information as you can gather.
Yes, you have greatness inside of you, but the knowledge you gather is what sharpens your mind for exploits. The major difference between a success and a failure is [the utilization of] information. When you gather positive resources and ponder on the information gotten, you receive inspiration for new innovations. Through positive exercise of the mind, you can break new grounds, and that’s what brings out the star in you. Exercise that mind today!

WAYS ON HOW TO HAVE A HAPPY AND STRONG RELATIONSHIP…

If you are single, read these tips with an eye on what you will want to do in a long-term relationship. If you are in a relationship, pick one or two of the five ideas and integrate them into your relationship now. You will be amazed at how many nice feelings you can create quickly by taking a few simple steps.
1. Try your best to love your partner unconditionally even if it seems hard not to be selfish.
2. Think from your partner’s perspective when it comes to matters of the heart.
3. End an argument as soon as possible, even if hugging your partner is the last thing on your mind. Don’t let a day or your partner go to bed when s/he is sad.
4. Communicate with each other and grow together in love, but never grow apart with lack of communication as the years pass by.
5. Learn to give space to each other to become better individuals. Even the closest of relationships need some alone time to miss each other now and then.
6. Never take each other for granted. This is the easiest way to fall prey to affairs and arguments.
7. Never shy away from positive criticism. As long as you say it in a constructive manner, it’ll help your partner become a better person.
8. Be the shoulder to lean on, no matter what. Tough times are the most testing phases of a relationship. Stand by your partner, and when the storm ends, love will shine brighter.
9. Never argue in public, keep that argument until u reach home
10. Always pray together, whatever you do in life always put God first!
Prayer is the key...

GOD'S PURPOSE FOR CHRISTIANS

What Does The Bible Teach About The Christian Way of Life?
  • There is no Christian life apart from faith in Jesus Christ:
  • There is no Christian life apart from the power of God the Holy Spirit:
  • There is no Christian life apart from the knowledge of the Word of God:
What is the Christian's purpose on earth? Every believer in Jesus Christ should ask himself this question, "after salvation, what?" If you say, "to work for Jesus," then you don't have very much knowledge of the Word of God.

Eternal salvation becomes an accomplished fact at the moment of faith in Jesus Christ. Heaven is absolutely guaranteed for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. But the quality of the believer's life on earth depends on him carrying out the plan of God after salvation. Impact and blessings in time and eternity depend on fulfilling God's plan in time. Therefore, the question becomes emphatic. What is God's plan for the Christian after the point of personal faith in Christ? God freely gives "all things" after providing salvation (Romans 8:32). What are these things that God provides?

The simplest answer is this: He provides Bible doctrine for His people to learn. The Bible reveals God's purpose and plan. Only through growing in knowledge concerning God can anyone appreciate, love, and worship Him. As Christians we are commanded to "change our thinking" with divine viewpoint thinking so God's gracious purpose can be fulfilled in and through our lives. (Romans 12:2; Eph 1:18; 4:22-24).

God's purpose for the Christian calls for spiritual growth. II Peter 3:18, "But grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ....." II Timothy 2:15, "Study to show yourself approved of God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

The Christian is kept alive on earth to fulfill his destiny, which is to become a spiritually mature believer, a spiritual winner. ".....a mature person to the measure of the maturity which belongs to the fullness of Christ." (Eph 4:13-16). Each believer's life becomes a unique expression of the glory of God in both time and eternity (Rom 8:29-30; 9:23-24), but only the spiritually mature believer's life glorifies God by receiving the highest and best that God has prepared for him (Rom 6:1-2a; I John 1:5-2:6).

Divine blessings that the Christian can understand and experience and the overt manifestations of the Christian way of life only comes as a result of spiritual growth. And the Bible teaches that the only means of spiritual growth is the believer's consistent RECEPTION (hearing & listening), RETENTION (learning), and RECALL (application) of Bible doctrine in the filling or controlling mininstry of the Holy Spirit through all the circumstances of life.

Bible doctrine is the content of the Word of God which God designed to be communicated to the believer in Jesus Christ so that it will become the measure of his thinking, and the source of his mental attitude (Rom 12:3; II Tim 3:16-17; Phil 2:5; Heb 4:16;). The importance of Bible doctrine can never be overestimated. In fact, God places His own Word above everything else, even His own name: Psalm 138:2 tells us that "God has magnified (lifted up) His Word above His name."

His Word reveals His nature and His essence. Only the Scriptures allow us to get a glimpse of God's absolute character and to love the revealed member of the Godhead, Jesus Christ (John 1:18). The Bible is absolute truth, the thinking of Jesus Christ (Phil 2:5). I Peter 1:8 tells us that "Though we have not seen Him, we love Him." But this only occurs when we begin to understand His thinking and His viewpoint.

Understanding God's Word is the root of all Christian virtue. It causes the transformation of the believer's life, beginning with the inner person, the soul (Rom 12:2). The Christian's persistent learning and application of Bible doctrine in the filling or controlling ministry of the Holy Spirit enlarges his capacities for life, for love, for service, for blessings, and for happiness (II Corinthians 9:7-8). God's "greater grace" fills up the mature believer's greater capacities "to all the fullness of God." (James 4:6; Eph 3:19). In blessing the believer, God is glorified (Eph 1:3).

Therefore, the Christian life has a very high and elevated purpose here on earth. To bring glory to Jesus Christ and be a testimony to everyone around. And this is only possible when the believer places himself under the consistent learning and application of Bible doctrine in the filling or controlling ministry of the Holy Spirit. If every believer would make his objective to accomplish this, most of the problems within our communities, cities, states and our nation would begin to deteriorate. They would not cease, because Satan will remain the ruler of this world until Jesus Christ returns to set up His Kingdom, but the problems would become more manageable.

Therefore, I challenge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, if you haven't already; then to place yourself under the consistent ministry of the Word of God, either under a pastor-teacher who teaches the Word, or by listening to Bible tapes. But keep as your number one priority in the Christian life, the learning of Bible doctrine in the filling of the Holy Spirit. It is only when you do this that you can fulfill the purpose of God in your life.

LIVING A HAPPY LIFE

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It is a feeling of inner peace and satisfaction. It is usually experienced, when there are no worries, fears or obsessing thoughts. This usually happens, when we do something we love to do, or when we get, win, gain, or achieve something that we value. It seems to be the outcome of positive events, but it actually comes from the inside, triggered by external events.
th
“Your attitude either makes you happy or unhappy….therefore, making life happier is a matter of choice.”

We all go through various, circumstances, meet various situations every day, and some of them may not contribute to happiness, but we do not have to let them influence our reactions and feelings.
However, we can choose to keep thinking about the unhappy events, and we can choose to refuse to think about them, and instead, think about and relish the happy moments.
What is happiness?
Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It is a feeling of inner peace and satisfaction. It is usually experienced, when there are no worries, fears or obsessing thoughts. This usually happens, when we do something we love to do, or when we get, win, gain, or achieve something that we value. It seems to be the outcome of positive events, but it actually comes from the inside, triggered by external events.
For most people, happiness seems fleeting and temporary, because they allow external circumstances to affect it. One of the best ways to keep it, is by gaining inner peace through daily meditation. As the mind becomes more peaceful, it becomes easier to choose the happiness habit.
Tips for happiness in daily life:
  • The first one is to be grateful. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is. No matter how many pleasant things you do, if you don’t learn to be grateful you will always see things negatively.
  • Endeavour to change the way you look at things. Always look at the bright side. The mind may drag you to think about negativity and difficulties. Don’t let it. Look at the good and positive side of every situation.
  • Think about solutions, not about problems.
  •  Listen to relaxing, uplifting music.
  • Watch funny comedies that make you laugh.
  • Each day, devote some time to reading a few pages of an inspiring book or article.
  • Watch your thoughts. Whenever you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, start thinking of pleasant things. Do not move too quick. Slow down and pay attention to the world around you.
  • Always look at what you have done and not at what you haven’t. Sometimes you may begin the day with the desire to accomplish several objectives. At the end of the day you might feel frustrated and unhappy, because you haven’t been able to do all of those things. Look at what you have done, not at what you have not been able to do.
  • Do something good for yourself everyday. It can be something small, such buying a book, eating something you love, watching your favourite program on TV, going to a movie, or just having a stroll on the beach.
  • Do one act to make others happy each day. This can be a kind word, helping your colleagues, stopping your car at the crossroad to let people cross or giving a small present to someone you love. When you make someone happy, you become happy, and then people try to make you happy.
  • Avoid envying people who are happy. On the contrary, be happy for their happiness.
  • Associate with happy people, and try to learn from them to be happy. Remember, happiness is contagious.
  • Do your best to stay detached, when things do not proceed as intended and desired. Detachment will help you stay calm and control your moods and reactions. Detachment is not indifference. It is the acceptance of the good and the bad and staying balanced. Detachment has much to do with inner peace, and inner peace is conductive to happiness.
  • Smile more often.

4 STEPS TO TAKE TO OVERCOME INSECURITY IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Insecurity can be described as a phenomenon where a partner keeps having doubts about the faithfulness of his or her partner at all times. It occurs where there is lack of trust in a relationship/marriage.
INSECUIRY
With insecurity in a relationship, partners argue and blow up little issues that are not worth more than a 5 sentence explanation  into a big issue thereby, causing strains, heartaches, headaches and even destruction of a beautiful relationship.
The person that suffers the most is the partner on the receiving end or the person that is always been accused wrongly and always faced with a situation of trying to vindicate themselves with evidence/proofs .
In worse cases, Insecurity could be extremely detrimental to any relationship/marriage when the issue at hand may appear to be cheating meanwhile it is not. With an ever doubtful mind, the insecure person could take drastic actions that could lead to the death of the  accused. This is very painful especially if the accused  has always been  the faithful type with a clean past and conscience.
Lets look at steps to take in order to avoid the dangers of Insecurity in our relationship/marriages.
1. Stop Trying to be a Psychologist
Psychologist here connotes reading the mind of your partner. You need to understand that people think differently including identical twins so the perspective your partner reasons or see things might be different from the way you see things. Even if your partner is quiet over some things, you do not need to make assumptions of what they are thinking. Focus more on what you are been told so as to avoid thoughts of cheating thus insecurity.Learn to  take your partners words as they come open heartedly and do not bother about the story untold.
2. Leave baggage from previous relationships.
There is a popular idiom that says ; once bitten twice shy which applies to  so many aspects of our lives and including relationships. Hence, it is expected that someone who has been cheated on in their previous relationships would be more watchful and wise in their next relationship. In as much as it is good to be wiser , you have to understand that people are different and  so is every relationship. The best way to avoid insecure feeling is to let go of bad experiences in previous relationship, have an  open mind and start every relationship on fresh grounds so as to avoid issues of been overly suspicious in an attempt to protect oneself from another heartbreak.
3. Stop creating problems where there is none.
Insecure partners need to stop thinking there is more to what you see. Take for example, you see the zip of your partner broken and coincidentally a female colleague just walked out of his office. Then you start thinking of what could have to a broken zip. Definitely it was most likely broke in the process of him cheating on you before you walked in. You need to understand that it could have been broken on his way to work, at work or he probably did not noticed before putting on the trouser.                                                                           Learn to stop hallucinating or making a mental movie script out of any little incident you see to avoid having in issues. Ask questions and let by gone be by gone.
4. Pray about it.
This is the beginning and end of the solution to Insecurity. You need the Grace of God to forget the past and start life on a new grounds, to be patient to hear your partner out,  to be free minded, for understanding and to see your partner in the positive Light. In everything you do in life always put God first!
Defavouredkings blog fans, you can make a change in your relationships  with God, hardwork and determination. Take all these steps and save your marriage/relationships from unnecessary fight.
Do not forget to share this with your loved ones while you maintain peace in your relationships.

SEVEN PRINCIPLES OF AN EAGLE TO LIVE BY

Eagle is a common name for many large birds of prey of the family Accipitridae; it belongs to several groups of genera that are not necessarily closely related to each other. Most of the 60 species of eagles are from Eurasia and Africa.
    Speed: Bald eagle: 120 – 160 km/h
Lifespan: Bald eagle: 20 years, Crowned eagle: 14 years
    Wingspan: Bald eagle: 1.8 – 2.3 m, Steller's sea eagle: 2 – 2.5 m, more
Mass: Bald eagle: 3 – 6.3 kg, Golden eagle: 4.2 kg, more
    Clutch size: Steller's sea eagle: 1 – 3, Crowned eagle: 1 – 2, more
Length: Golden eagle: 70 – 84 cm, more

(1) EAGLES FLY ALONE AND AT HIGH ALTITUDES.
They don’t fly with sparrows or other small birds.
Stay away from sparrows and ravens, those that bring you down. Eagles fly with Eagles. Keep good company.

(2) EAGLES HAVE AN ACCURATE VISION.
They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it.
Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed.

(3) EAGLES DO NOT EAT DEAD THINGS.
They feed only on fresh prey.
* Do not rely on your past success; keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past.

(4) EAGLES LOVE THE STORM.
When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the storm’s wind to lift it higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagles uses the raging storm to lift him above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees.
* Face your challenges knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges rather they relish them and use them profitably.

(5) MAKE FRIENDS WITH CHAMPIONS
When a female eagle meets a male and they want to mate, she flies down to earth with the male pursing her and she picks a twig. She flies back into the air with the male pursuing her.
Once she has reached a height high enough for her, she lets the twig fall to the ground and watches it as it falls. The male chases after the twig. The faster it falls, the faster he chases until he reaches it and has to catch it before it falls to the ground, then bring it back to the female eagle.

The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a much higher altitude, and then drops the twig for the male to chase.
This goes on for hours, with the height increasing until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of picking the twig which shows commitment, then and only then, will she allow him to mate with her!

Whether in private life or in business, one should test commitment of people intended for partnership.
(6) EAGLES PREPARE FOR TRAINING.
They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young get uncomfortable in preparation for flying.
* Leave your comfort zone, there is no growth there.

(7) RENEW
When the Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out.
* We occasionally need to shed off old habits, things that burden us, or add no value to our lives.

5 HABITS THAT WILL GUARANTEE YOUR FAILURE IN LIFE

Your daily habits define who you are. You are practically what you do. In the words of Winston Churchill: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal — it is the courage to continue that counts.” If you have ever failed in the past but never gave up, you are stronger than you think.
If you have failed recently and are considering giving up, don’t. The obstacle is definitely the way. There will always be a way out. You just haven’t found it yet. Keep on trying. Find out why and how you got stuck, and dig yourself out of the temporary setback. Unfortunately, most people refuse to do something about their failures. In the end, they give up on their dreams and stop working on projects that matter to them and continue to wallow in discontent.

Everyone fears to fail, experiencing it is inevitable, but it’s your response to it that makes all the difference. Don’t get stuck. You are not your failure. These are a few of the many habits that could guarantee your failure — and what you can do about them.

Failure 3
1. FAILING TO PLAN
You have a better chance to succeed in life if you have a plan. It doesn’t have to be perfect. The real world doesn’t reward perfectionists but those who get stuff done. You should always think through whatever you want to achieve and make plans on what to do next at any point in time. You plans should be specific, measurable and time-bound. A complete big picture prepares you for execution. Don’t make vague plans. You will be prone to procrastinate if your plan is not measurable. Work with timelines for better and faster results.

Failure 2
2. THE FEAR TO EVEN TRY
“You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.” Wayne Gretzky could not have said that any better. You can only make progress if you take a step. Overcoming the fear of failing is the first step towards success. Start confronting your fears today. And take even the most basic step towards what you have to do. Remember the dream you were too scared to chase? It’s still not too late to give it a try. Never miss an opportunity to try.
“No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.” — Tony Robbins.

Failure
3. GIVING UP TOO SOON
How persistent are you about pursuing your dreams and goals in life? One of the most important secrets of success is learning to conquer your doubts. Most of us give up on our passion too soon. Every successful person you know today has a perseverance story to share. There is probably no better example of persistence than the story of Abraham Lincoln.

He failed in business at 21, lost a legislative race at age 22, failed in business again at 24 and lost a congressional race when he was 34. At 45 he lost a senatorial race. And he failed in an attempt to become Vice President when he was 47. But he was finally elected President of the United States at age 52. Lincoln never quit. He could have given up after several attempts but pursued his ambition to assume the highest office in America. There is no substitute for persistence. As long as you are still actively trying after every failure, you have not failed yet.

4. DISBELIEF
If you don’t believe in what you do, you will give up at some point. If you have no reason to believe it’s possible to achieve your dreams or goals, all the effort you are putting into it will be wasted. You mind’s unconscious beliefs plays a significant role in the amount of effort you put into your life’s work. If you don’t see a successful outcome, you won’t push yourself further to get there. Your progress depends on your decision to try knowing that you will overcome your failures and rise above them.

5. MAKING EXCUSES
There will always be a reason why it can’t be done. People constantly explain away why they couldn’t, shouldn’t, didn’t, or simply wouldn’t do something. When you make excuses, you are simply saying, “I’m not in control.” But guess what — you are the only person who is fully in control of your actions and decisions in the world. Making excuses robs you of your personal power.

People make excuses because of the fear of the unknown. Others are just afraid of change, rejection and embarrassment. Fear locks you in your comfort zone. And nothing magical or remarkable happens in your safe zone. You can stop making excuses if you learn how to eliminate all traces of fear from your life. The next time you experience a setback, don’t make an excuse. See it as a challenge, learn from it and move on. Excuses are distractions, and they reduce your confidence and self-belief. You don’t want that — especially when you still have a lot to show the world.
